sip i dont think have a great name in mig welding but dont know much about the stick side i would say for the money you spend on the sip you could get a better unit for the same money
im sure there are people on here that will be along to help soon
i have the older sip buzz box and has done really well for all the years ive had it for
the choice is simple now old type buss box where your sticks stick often when trying to arc weld or the new digital versions with hardly any sticking to the material your trying to weld vs years of use

not if you are welding with your son and using a 2.5 rod and getting a good looking weld but then when its your sons go hand him a 3.2 even on the inverter that will have problems sticking
Thanks for your all replies, the unit will cost me £35 its a fan cooled unit with 3phase and 240v 20a single phase options, I was thinking more amps is better am I incorrect
the extra amps will help if doing thicker metal and when you are doing smaller metal the duty cycle eg the longer you can weld with out it over heating is better
