First of all I would just like to say that the forum is great and has been a really useful resource for my research!
The only problem is, I'm still a little bit stuck and confused with all the options out there! I know this question must come up 1000 times a day but I would really appreciate a little help choosing a first time MIG welder.
It's worth noting that the MIG would only be a hobby welder, so it needs to run off a normal 13amp 240v socket.
Even though it's a hobby I don't want to buy something that won't work properly by trying to save a few quid.
The sort of projects that I am likely to work on are very basic, such as a BBQ etc, although 10 years down the line when I have a mid life crisis maybe a kit car, who knows!
My basic questions are..
1.) Am I better buying a new clarke MIG welder (£250-300 range) or a 2nd hand welder? (if so, which brand should I look for?)
2.) Is it likely that I will be able to weld aluminium/stainless with a 13amp input welder?
3.) How much do the adaptors cost for the larger CO2 bottles?
Everything i've built from metal so far has to be designed so that it holds together using bolts! Which is limiting and frustrating!
Thanks,
Leon
