I don't know if anyone can help me with some advice. Any feedback would be well appreciated.
I've got an old diesel generator welding set that has been in barn storage for a few years and was working fine when it was put into the barn... The engine runs but the set won't strike an arc, all that Im getting are some very weak sparks that look more like orange grinding sparks. The welding set itself is a very basic air cooled transformer, a rheostat to control the amps a capacitor and an inverter coil(?) I know very little about electrical engineering, in fact all I know about electricity is how to strike an arc lol!...
