My MIG is now at least 20 years old its a SIP Turbo, I use CO2 +Argon shielding gas and normally am welding 16SWG and above . My problem is that when I first start the welds are excellent but it gets progressively more difficult to get a good neat weld. I gets lots of false starts splatter and unstable arc after welding for 10- 15 mins , problem has been the same for a year or so of occasional use. I've bought new tips & shroud had a new liner etc but I'm thinking it could be time for a change. Has the technology improved significantly in the last 10- 15 years or if I change am I getting the same thing and could I improve my old machine. New machines look a bit expensive to me reckon to replace I'm in the £600 area so it may be worth spending some cash on my old machine.
