Hi all, Been a lurker for a while now since finding this forum and the project threads are my go to reading on my lunch break. I've posted this to ask for some help on which mig to buy. My current setup is a Sealey MightyMig100 Gasless and it's proven to be not the right tool for the job where welding thin panels are concerned. I tried to use this for some patch work on my semi rusty disco 2 and all it did was blow holes through both the panels of the car and the good patches I was trying to stick on.
At the moment, Seeing as there aren't any "easy on" panel kits for the Disco 2, I'm working on dismantling this with the spot weld cutter so that I can put the good panels onto my disco. :
Now the question is, when it comes to putting them on. I'm looking at the Parweld xte171c and the PortaMig 165

http://www.weldequip.com/portamig-165-mig.htm
I'm torn between the two. Both are within budget (600 delivered). I already have PPE and fire extinguisher. Do I buy the parweld and have enough money left over for Gas, leaving me with a very capable setup but has a minimum amp rating of 30a
Or
go for the portamig with the spot weld timer which has the better 15a minimum amps, IMO will be better suited for automotive panels, spot welding and rusty landrover work etc but has a longer lead time for delivery before I can use it. Leaving me stood.
Would appreciate any comments, alternatives etc that I may not have thought about.
