Hello to all. Been reading up about welding, on here and took the plunge yesterday, and bought the Lidl 80 amp inverter for £70. Got it home, set up a bench, plugged it in and the garage lights went out. As I reset the trip switch I noticed it was only a 16 amp trip.So today I upgraded to a 32 amp trip. Plugged the unit in and it all worked. The spec is as follows- 3 year warranty, 60% at 80amps, 100% at 62amps. Sounds pretty quiet, only hear the fan. Didn't take long to burn my first 2mm lidl rod at 70amps and even managed to stick 2 nails together. Found the rod pretty easy to start and will buy some 6013 in 2.5mm next week to try. I had a great time playing with it and it looks like it will do exactly what I want it for. That's to do a bit of dragonfly and flower art for the garden and stick some nuts and bolts together to look like motorbikes.
