Hello everyone.
Just getting into welding after realising I have had about as much as I can take of working in IT. I'm not looking for a career change, just a new skill to help me get a more creative perspective from time to time.
I have just completed an excellent 4-day beginner welding course at Writtle College where I got to try MIG ARC and Oxy/Fuel welding. I loved every second of it. It has got me thinking about some stuff that I would like to make. Now I know how not to blow myself up or electrocute myself with hundreds of amps I am a little more confident to get started on some projects.
I will be buying a MIG welder, possibly from Machine Mart (Clarke) around the 150 Amp mark as most of my ideas are using material under 3mm in thickness. I am planning to run Argon/CO2 mix from one of the hobby suppliers after reading lots of posts on this forum about which is the cheapest startup method.
Just want to thank all the existing members for their useful contributions to this community. I have already spent a lot of time researching this craft and I always end up back here finding the answer.
I look forward to getting going.
