I just happened on this site and wanted to say hi. I have been successfully welding for 30 plus years, but now going to start a college welding class on Jan 15th to polish my skills to match the level of projects I am involved with. I currently have an older Lincoln Idealarc with a Bernard water cooled torch that works ok, but I need to learn better aluminum welding skills with the AC sine wave on my Lincoln, due to not having a square wave feature, and also wish to become able to nail a chassis or roll cage to pass an NHRA tech inspection. I have already picked up lots of good tips here, and wanted to thank you all for sharing. Places like this are invaluable for the guy who isn't a professional welder, but wants to weld like one...lol I hope to share anything I am able to learn in the next 6 months, and will be here looking for more tips as I progress (hopefully) with my skill level and class.

** As a side note and strictly for lol... I wanted to say I thought people in the UK only talked funny (to us in the usa) but after reading many posts, I realized that you also type funny... rotfl It's a form of communication that is quite enjoyable to read. No disrespect intended, I think it is cool and hope I haven't offended anyone.
