Hello guys, I'm new to the forum! I'm 23 from the East Midlands Derby and want to get into welding. I'll start at the beginning, I did Engineering at school for one my options and achieved a Intermediate VRQ and NVQ Level 2 in Engineering. We did a unit on MIG welding and I loved it, it came naturally to me. I tried to get an apprenticeship at the age of 16 but there wasn't anything locally. So my backup plan was to go to college, I did a National Diploma in vehicle technology. We did a unit of TIG and MIG welding in the 2nd year. It was the only classed which I loved, everybody else hated it! I came out with a distinction from that unit and went to a interview for an apprenticeship at a company down the road from where I lived. No luck. I'm now 23 and I want to get back into it, I really wish I got into welding years ago but something seemed to be always stopping me. So, at 23 years of age which is the best way to get into welding? I've looked at local colleges for evening classes and the only one which does evening courses is 15 miles away. Apprenticeships don't even want to look at me due to my age, I just seems I can't win. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
