I need to make up a set of pipe jaws and am thinking of using some plain cold rolled steel plate. Question is, with a misc. steel is it worth the effort of hardening and tempering?
No way for me to find out the composition of the steel so I'd probably water harden it and then just bake it for a few hours etc.
How precise does the process need to be to get discernible results and is it worth doing for this application?
Screwd.
