Hi. I'm sydd, currently studying level 3 diploma in engineering technologies (fab weld) at the Grimsby Institute, engineering department as a mature student.
Decided I needed a change of pace from the easy to get food factory and retail jobs in the area, to something that's a bit more fulfilling. So I went back to college in 2014 to do my EAL level 1 in fabrication and welding, which included H&S theory, MMA, mig, thermal cutting and sheet metal. Progressed on to the EAL level 2 diploma in engineering technologies, which included H&S, welding theory and properties of metals, mig, tig, sheet work and 1St angle projection drawing.
I'm currently half way through my EAL Level 3 diploma in engineering technologies, which consists of H&S, welding science and maths, pattern development, positional mig and tig (vertical up hill single v-butt and overhead t-fillet), plus MMA optional, pipe work, plate work and optional sheet work.
I've been looking for apprenticeships for about 3 months now, as that's the only way to progress after college, but there are none near Grimsby or in Lincolnshire for that fact. Any ideas where I should try.
Thanks.
