Hi all, I’m new here. I know this question has probably been asked a thousand times but would really appreciate some advice on my first welder purchase.
I do quite a bit of motorbike restoration and modification so want to get more self sufficient, I’m positive I will be reading the “learning mig welding” section quite a bit! Up to now I have made do with a mini oxy set for welding ally with fluxed low temp rods and bronze braising but its too limiting for the things I want to do.
I’ve got a budget of about £350, looking to be welding steel, aluminium and occasionally stainless. I doubt I would be welding material over 5mm thick. Apart from obviously needing to be strong, the welds would need to look nice once I get good enough that is..
I’ve read on here that a Clarke 151EN might fit the bill (how do I get a VAT free voucher haha) but have also seen on ebay Sealey mightymig 150 a fair bit cheaper – or should I max out my measly £350? I would need to get all accessories out of that as well.
Appreciate any and all advice
Thanks
Chris
