driving home form work, turned into the main street that feeds the cul-de-sac I live in and half way up I saw something lying in the road.
stopped, got out and realised it was a man, about 55-60, with a ladder. he was conscious but unable to move due to back problems and the weight of the ladder.
apparently he had been there about 15 mins shouting but no one came out to see what was going on and I was the first car to come past.
got him on his feet, checked him over, gave him a lift home (nearly 2 miles up an unlit single track country lane) that he was originally going to walk and got rewarded with 4 cans of lager.
he was a bit shaken but nothing serious. his son was very gratefull that I returned him in the car, apparently he was supposed to ring for a lift when he had done whatever he was doing.
