Anyone heard of Glyptal?
Used to seal pourous surfaces eg., inside engine crank cases. Another application is to seal the heads of rivets where they need to be oil tight.
Like this:
Trouble is it costs a fortune - about £60 a tin, and I only need a thimble full. I think the price is partly due to it being manufactured in the US, and some nasties in it that customs don’t like.
Any ideas for a UK equivalent? Needs to be thin / brush on stuff. New rivets can be loctited in place to seal, but I need to re-seal old rivets. I know some grades of loctite will work with a cappilary action and can be good for fitted fasteners, but this has been oil soaked for 50 years so I wouldn’t trust it to work - need to seal from the outside.
???
Thanks.
