Just got started with my tig, I have been practising simple beads on 2mm stainless and mild steel. I am using a1.6 red tungsten, a four cup, 12lt/mind pure argon and played with amps , seems best around 65. I can produce quite a good clean bead without filler but when I start to add filler I get a dark grey bead on the stainless, I have been regrinding the tungsten fairly regularly, any suggestions? At the end of the run I get a dimple, I have played with various down slope settings but no real improvement, I do not have a foot control, again any suggestions?
