As some of you know I bought a George Taylor (95% sure it's a mk1) off Screwdriver who delivered it this morning, and took some time to explain a couple things to me so this is how it was when he left.
Starting to take the head off
Head completely off
Putting the knee on, what I found out after much head scratching is that you have to wind the knee completely up in order to be able to bolt the little plate at the base of the knee on to the base then insert the chip tray and then you can wind it down and slid the head on (my little helper making sure I'm doing it right)
Power feed (at least I think it's called that) bolted on, need to figure out how I'm going to power it, pretty sure I'm going to use a wiper motor but sure just yet
The owner before screwdriver had a makeshift motor mount and pulley system not sure if I'm keeping it or doing something different mounting it for now but may be subject to change
Spent a little while scratching my head on how the quill goes together and think I've Sussed it. What is the best grease to use?
I am a complete and utter novice into regards machining and equipment so does anyone know if you can still get collets for this type of quill? I noticed in the thread that screwdriver put up that a lot of suggestions about boring it out/ adapting it to use either a morse taper or to use an er type collet. I have absolutely no tooling so it will make no difference what type i use but is anyone able to explain how to do this? Preferably with pictures as I have no clue
