Hi All,
Part of my garage floor needs replacing, i’ve cut a piece out to run power cables, but there is also a crack that damp is rising though. I plan to cut across the full length about a meter into the garage back to good concrete.
My question is how to joint new concrete to the old. The old floor is not reinforced, and is not laid on any kind of modern sub base, in fact, it’s just old bits of wall, bricks and blocks, so there are lots of gaps. I presume it’s all just infill as the garage is higher than the garden next to it.
My thoughts were to drill and insert some rebar into the old slab and then just basically fill with slightly wetter mix so that it runs into all the gaps - perhaps with glass fibre in for strength. It’s ulimately going to have a two and a half ton Landrover sat on it so it needs to be strong.
Or would it just be better to bite the bullet and put a new floor in
Thanks in advance
