If a workshop bench top was covered in Galvafroid to inhibit rusting would there be any problems welding on it
Would it have to be constantly re applied ?
I wouldn't do it, Galvafroid is great stuff ( If you are strong enough to lift the can) but for anti-rust, just a light coat of anti-spatter,spray cooking oil, WD 40 etc.
i'd coat with an oil. i'd not use wd40 as there are bits that evaporate.3 in one would my preference but its kinda expensive. to be honest any oil is better than none. you also don't need alot just apply with a cloth
I thought about coating with oil but it may need to be outside in the rain sometimes for transport so wondered if Galvafroid would be the answer
Will coat with oil for the time being and see if i can find a long term plan
Anti spatter contains lots of water with the oil. I tried it on my bench if you don't towel it down after spraying it will rust. Paints are all total rubbish as they burn, give off fumes and prevent the return current working well
Galvafroid is a bit too expensive to be burning off a bench! What about a weld through primer, you could keep an aerosol handy for touching up scorched bits.
