mine takes about 5 mins to become smokeless
i know i mention rocket stoves but i like the ability to store less wood
this one hits smokeless pretty quickly at 5 mins
the answer with wood is to use secondary air the old systems are good except for one thing you have to get them to high temps 500f with a rocket stove your hitting 900f + your firebox of 500f with the downdraft model your hitting 1000f
all systems using secondary air input even a standered fire uses secondary air better fuel efficency and much cleaner burning
come to think about it what size area you heating as the one i use is way to powerful and thats for a 9'x10' shed
i prefer to see the flames within a fire hence why i choose the type of rocket burner i use
other wood stoves are being converted to use secondary air
