Hi everyone !
Long story short : I think got screwed over in buying a second hand GYS Smartmig 162 that doesn't seems to work.
I did put some wire in it and tried to weld, nothing happens. The fan spins and the wire feeder works if I press the trigger though. I even tried to put the wire directly on the ground clamp, still nothing.
I've taken it apart, nothing seems visually broken, nothing burnt, nothing melted.
My stick welder makes a buzzing sound when on, is the MIG also supposed to do that ? I'm looking for some help to check what is the part(s) that are faulty. The board ? The transformer ?
Is it possible to test the transformer by feeding mains into it directly (bypassing the board) ?
What the board is supposed to do ? Just drive a relay or is it supposed to do some voltage regulation ?
All suggestions very welcome
