My Discovery has failed MOT on rear shock absorber bushes. New ones have been bought and I haven't an idea how to fit them. Problem is they are like this -
and made out of rock hard rubber with bonded steel tube in centre. That means clamping with jubilee clip on the edge enough to allow dia to be reduced enough for fitment into the shock eye is going to be difficult. I've tried boiling water but that doesn't soften rubber any significant amount
So question is how do you fit such bushes ?
The actual pressing into the eye isn't difficult as I've got G clamps, large bolts and washer as well as 10 ton press - whatever works best.
Cheers.
