hey guys just getting to grips with the gen set I ran a 2.5 fincord rod 10 fillet style for structural type I have not got the spatter under control yet but it burns lovely the arc force is unreal what u guys think
Does this machine have the "gears" (I believe they call the ampere ranges this way) or is the current infinitely adjustable?
What kind of big motor move its inner parts?
it might be mate hense the call earlier but I've checked everything just got home its a bit dark out now i flushed the rad out today but still full of crud so back at that again I think its condensation but till I pick the thing up on the forklift and drop the oil im not gunna find out got a small spec of milk on the dip stick and there seems to be condensation in the cap so back off with the rad oh and a few of the fins leak a bit
I did try to call you back but got your answerphone... I was pumping diesel when you called, the forecourt staff tend to shout at me when I answer my phone whilst fuelling up.
must not of had signal at the farm gunna look at it with a new head tomorrow mate think the Merc boot was full with all my tools been a long day it was no rush mate was the question above just been trawling through a form on majors and if sat for a while they condensate so ill look in to that think its time I brought some imperial tools
i wouldnt worry too much about the engine david ,think to be honest its condensation ,with you using it on n off etc and it being stood a long time ..get it running n up to temp n work it hard i think itl go away ..change the oil of course once you have it warm ..
I think that it's not these engines that are prone to it but I've never had anything to do with them and so am relying on sketchy recollections of what I've been told over the years. So fairly worthless
My thoughts are that it sounds to be a small amount and could just be condensation (I see didsthewelder also thinks this while I'm slowly replying).
I would remove and test the thermostat to be sure it's able to reach full temperature (and there's a lot of engines where a 'mechanic' has removed the 'stat), change the oil & filter and put a bottle of K seal in.
I've had great success with the stuff, even down to an engine that was having water drained from the sump plug daily before starting (holed liner). Kept it going until harvest was done, and is a permanent fix provided you aren't trying to seal against combustion pressure or other such impossibilities/massive holes
It does sound like there are some problems with the radiator. Full of crud and leaking.
I would make sure you've got plenty of antifreeze in and stick in a bottle of K seal then hope for the best.
Trying too hard to clean it will probably result in hundreds spent on a recore, so see if the leaks can be sealed and if it's flowing enough to keep the engine from overheating leave a sleeping dog lay.
hey bill .im far from an expert with engines especially ford ,massey ferguson to the bone you see ,but ive had it a few times on our older stuff and seen it before where if its sat around not doing n then ran for short periods. one of my tractors looks like its breathing heavy if its not been used for a while and thats condensation , get it warm n swap the fluids and see what happens ?? just my thoughts ?
