OK so I dont have much welding experience and what experience i do have I have had an experienced welder do the settings for me and achieved ok results.
So I am needing a welding to do some repairs on my car a 1984 vw van mostly its just filling in holes from random holes being placed everywhere with a drill though there is a few sections where sections have been cut out for pipes and whatnot so some repair sections will be required.
I am also planning some aluminum shelving for the van and I have heard a mig can be used for welding aluminum though tig gives much better results so if there is a welder that would be better suited for that would love to hear about it though its not a nesesity.
From my experience mig welding seems to be the easiest method for me to weld with and gas seems to be better than gas less for car panels from what reading i have done.
Unfortuantly I dont have any friends anymore around here with welding experience so have had to come here seeking some advice.
Now I'm not wanting to spend a fortune I will probably end up selling welder after my car is finished or it will sit in the shed gathering dust most likely the limit I am thinking is $300 at most not including helmet. gas, gloves and wire. I figure for that price I should be able to find something quite good for what I require in that price range.
Browsing around ebay have found a few which I think would be quite suitable would like to hear from some people with more experience than myself
