I managed to spend a few hours with my ESAB Aristotig 255 today. Seems to be working perfectly. I discovered the split electrodes were down to the way I was cutting them. But I was still having loads of problems. Just couldn't get anything to stick together. Great at melting the edge of the ali though!
But then I had an idea - checked the manual. It seems the 70:30 split on ac balance is reversed on the ESAB!
Now it is working as it should. I managed to lay some beads - I never realised you used filler rod so fast! I even stuck 2 bits of ali together - but it was getting late and then I dipped the tungsten so I gave up for the night.
Next time I might even have some pictures to show
