ok, so i set up a welding bay in my garage. i got some nice heavy natural canvas for the job and its hung nice and low. i made it to let me work when the weather is bad, to have a dedicated space for it and to safeguard others from glancing in and getting a flash. i am happy with the protection, its stopping any spatter nicely and its a nice safe spot.
the downside, which has become painfully apparent, is fumes. the last couple of bits i did (i am making a metal welding bench to go in there) i did inside it and the fumes gave me a lovely sore throat. i didnt catch them full blast and i dont use solvents so its just steel/flux fumes, but still not good and i plan to be in there quite a lot. so i need to sort out some kind of extraction. i am going to bolt the head to a bar attached to the wall so i can position it nice and close to the work.
i will be doing a mix of stick and mig gas and gasless. so i need it to be strong enough to pull the fumes but not so strong that it will disturb the shield. its also needs to plug in from a normal 230v socket.
i have been looking at normal household extractors, like the ones you get for shower rooms and kitchens. would these be effective enough to pull the fumes?
or should i look at the small scale hydroponic fans which have a higher flow rate? the adjustable ones are rather pricey though.
these are the ones i have been looking at:

i really cant afford any respiratory problems. i am already half crippled because of nasty nerve damage so the last thing i need is to be making myself ill from fumes too.
