Hi, I have a ESAB Tigma 150 which will only provide full amps.
I was told that this is an indication that the thyristors are damaged, as they revert to the full on mode when damaged.
I have replaced the thyristors 3 times: twice with thyristors of slightly different specifications. The machine has then worked fine for time periods of up to 10 hours or as little time as 1 hour.
Can anyone suggest what else may be causing them to fail.
My feeling is that I caused the original set to fail by being stupid with the pulse module. I was trying to weld thin sheet Aluminium with DC negative and thought I could keep the electrode cool by pulsing aggressively. It worked for a short period of time.
The originals had markings 81RIA40
I have tried 80RIA40, 80RIA80, 111RKI80
