I'm trying to use the NO and NC switches that used to operate the actuator to stop and start the VFD.
With 240v going through it, the switches worked fine. However with a low current 10v DC contol signal it isn't having it. Testing it with the mega, the contacts are intermittent. So I took it apart to clean the contacts, I have a nice very fine contact file from my old BT days, but can't find it so cleaned the contacts with a bit of fine wet and dry. There was a bit of carbon built up due to sparking, and verdigris on the copper due to the lathe being sat outside at some point.
Works lovely now, the question is, is there any contact cleaner that improves conductivity and prevents contact corrosion? I remember using Electrolube on the train set as a kid, is that just snake oil or is it something that works?
Cheers
Andy
