Or bikers wearing black.......That is almost always not due to visual acuity but actually looking properly or realising that seeing nothing is not the same as nothing being there.

Only last night i realised there was an increase in cyclists commuting as i went to screwfix. Probably due to squeeze on wages but what struck me was that the guys with lights etc were visible although still not sticking out but the ones with out anything were next to invisible. With no lights or reflectives on, because that's sissy and anyway it's up to car drivers to see me regardless.
I had a near miss the other day, driver in a van came round the bend on an A road straddling the centre white lines, I wrenched my van to the side to miss him, hit the horn at the same time and only then did he lift his eyes from his lap where I'm guessing he had his phone!I have been wearing glasses for about 8 years. I did not think i had a problem until one day driving home from Lancashire with my wife, my eyes got sore & red. She made me an apointment at the opticians & i went. After the test the optician said "Mr webster, I have to tell you legally you should not be driving". It creeps up on you & most of us simply wont notice the deteriation. When i picked up my new glasses i was blown away by how the world was suddenly 3d! So maybe eye tests should be compulsory. But then using mobile phones is illegal when you are driving but loads of people do it. Probably best to ban those caught using them for life & then the others might get the idea.
