I just use masonry bits in the appropriate size with no hammer action and have never had any problems. Tape to start the hole and not too fast with the drill speed.
That's what I did with my last one - been there 10 years no probs!Dont even bother ... Just glue the toilet etc down with silicon it wont move done loads never had one come lose
I found that out......lolTotally different animal porcelain tiles compared to ceramic tiles. There is no thin layer then soft like ceramics. Diamond drill suitable for porcelain is what I would use.
8 quid for 5 tiles. Thats a square metre..no experience with porcelain, we're low budget......
I will video it when i get time.....unless you see it you cant believe how hard it is.what about slowing it down, with a spray of water to cool it?
I have a number of other holes i need to drill such as holes for a wall basin etc so to be honest its not an option.Dont even bother ... Just glue the toilet etc down with silicon it wont move done loads never had one come lose
Honestly i am sure like me some of you have not come across tiles this hard before.I too have had no issues with ordinary bits in a SDS machine. Just remember to turn the hammer action off
My mate is a bathroom fitter / plumber and he has just finished our bathroom. He uses these:

I tried one of those...a bosch actually and you could hear the tiles laughing at me..lolI've drill hundreds of tiles using cheap glass and tile "spearpoint" drills from Screwfix etal
As mentioned above masking tape to mark the centre point and to prevent slippage during initial starting of the hole and then lots of water as a coolant.View attachment 105826
That was the one i ended up buying...just one drill though and that was 19 quid.My mate is a bathroom fitter / plumber and he has just finished our bathroom. He uses these:

I have fitted a lot of floor tiles and now need to drill holes for securing things like sinks and toilets.
I have tried the Bosch multi use blue tip drills and its just not having any of it.
I would prefer not to depend a small fortune....any suggestions on what works
Edit:: I think the main problem i have is they are glazed porcelain tiles..
I have a number of other holes i need to drill such as holes for a wall basin etc so to be honest its not an option.
Have you ever try to get a basin off a tied wall that's been siliconed on ????
cut round the edges with a stanley knife and tap some paint scrapers in round the basin and prise it off gentlyHave you ever try to get a basin off a tied wall that's been siliconed on ???? you normal end up pulling the tiles off the wall and stay stuck to the basin.
