Hi Folks, I recently found your forum its great to see experiences shared. Although I have owned and done my own gas welding for years I have far less experience with a Mig welder, and that has been inside in the warm on a bench. I have just treated myself to a new Clarke 135T and am running it with Hobbyweld Tri-shield with 8mm wire. I am getting good results on the bench but weld quality is not nearly as good outside replating sills on my motorhome, which I fabricated from 18SWG and cleaned original metal to a good finish. I am not sure if the drop in quality is down the wind, not mine, which I did try to keep out, or difficulty with gravity welding upside down. At the moment my regulator has one gauge which only shows pressure of the bottle, so it is difficult to know the pressure I am running at. Should I ask an Australian how the Mig works down under, or perhaps I just need more gas to compensate for wind and gravity? Your experiences will be appreciated.
