It's a railing that sits across a set of double doors in a loft conversion to stop you falling out when the doors are open. What's not to get!!!!!!!! It needs to be re grained and polished. It's gonna be subject to our British weather. What's wrong with it.
It's not a design I would of chose as I like the glass unfils. I don't have the equipment to do fancy tube work and painted steel wasn't an option as they requested SS. It will look similar to the fitting in Paul's pic apart from slight obvious differences in the design (requested by the people paying). The doors are white and house a light brick so Id imagine it would look ok and serve a purpose. I strictly don't fit things like this but I'll be sure to pop round and get a snap.
I quite like it but I agree it has to work with the background or it looks wrong. I like both ends of the scale. I really liked that stair case you put in and the one welderpaul did out of ss. Totally different ends of the scale but loved em both.
I agree the glass would of been my choice too. The veiw isn't effected mind as its only just over a mtr talllooks good to me, not what I would choose though. Glass would of been nicer less obtrusive if there is a view.
The job's good.
Having doors to nowhere in the roof is far from my ideal though - luckily, I don't live there
I would never fit something that high off the floor. I put fittings on it to take 4 m12 bolts so should be plenty strong if fitted properly.Just a word to any doing this horizontal rails won't get past many a building inspection
Due to kids being attracted to climbing them
It's a tidy bit of work though Richard. Know why you weren't up for the fitting now

They don't have any kids which was particularly the reason that design was deemed as OK with them. If they moved it would need changing probably for new owners just incase.
Not sure I was told by building control here they won't sign them off period. That can be a local thing though. In fact the inspector said not only horizontal but any easy climbed designHorizontal bars are allowed but not advised.
I supplied them with the 4x 130mm long SS m12's with ni locks and washers to go right through the 4 inch wooden joists and fabric so I assume that's how it was put up and if so its gonna be more than strong enough. Regards the regs they may have to swap it over the day they move but they know this as was all discussed on design. I think they'll be there a while as they not long moved in and making there own diy touches to it hence the loft conversion.Four m12 will likely take more force than the dorma itself is up to if correctly installed to the fabric
