Hi all,
I'm trying to replace some 1930s strike plates from my house which were were stripped out and misplaced during a renovation. However, the original woodwork was retained and so I'm now left with some strike-plate shaped holes that need filling with replacements but I can't seem to find any identical ones online or on ebay etc.
Of course, I could fill the holes in the wood, go out and buy new locks and new plates and get on with my life but I thought making replacement plates would be keep more of the original look without costing the Earth. Not so. I had a quote for laser cutting 5 of these and was quoted over £100. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could make these myself or have them cut out somewhere for a bit less dosh? I suppose I could cut them out of sheet and file them by hand but I'm reluctant to do that as I doubt they'll come out as well as the originals.
Ideally they'd be made from 1mm thick stainless steel and look something like this:
Thanks in advance!
