I’m make a mounting plate for a rotary table to fit the slots on my milling machine. The adapter plate I have found is thick at about 2 inches. I’m cutting in slots using 10mm end mills. I’m drilling out most of the material first, then using end mill to take numerous 1mm passes to create the slot. I’m concerned that I only ever use the first 1mm on the the side of the end mills. Would it be better to take multiple plunges to create the slot. It does appear faster to plunge cut. But I’m then only using the little teeth at the end of the mill.
Many Thanks
