Am planning a large deck to cover our patio area. Approx 5x3m times 2 sections in an L-Shape, so 30 sq m in total. Most of the ground i'm decking over is already concrete (path and old garage floor base) so instead of concreting posts i'm thinking of making some steel posts.
The deck needs to be about 50mm off the ground (and am planning on using mainly 150x50 for the joists), so would need little posts about 200mm high.
Was thinking of a 100x100 RHS welded to a 5mm plate (slightly bigger), forming little feet, and then bolt the lot using dyna bolts or similar straight into the concrete. Then just bolt all joists directly.
Any thoughts/tips/different plans of attack?
