Having fixed up the Romarc I decided that the welding job I have on at work (making up a bunch of frames for my own company) warranted buying something a bit more portable and with some built in talent so I can get going quicker.
The job is around 600 tacks and 600 x 25mm welds of 5mm and 6mm steel. Having cut all 380 pieces and made 160 notches I have built a jig for the frames so that hopefully they can be assembled tacked and welded in one go.
All the questions I had about "which welder?" had already been answered on here and I decided to buy the CWS http://www.weldingdirect.co.uk/cws-best-mig-160i-mig-welder-10672-p.asp . Originally I was going to get the machine without all the extras as I had just bought a new torch and reg from Weldequip for the Romarc, but decided I'd put the new CWS parts with that one and sell it as a package.
Had a good chat with Graham at CWS today and laid down my money.
We all like a bit of vicarious new and shiny so thought I would post up progress and some pics.
