I have most tools but am lacking the ability to weld and I would like to learn out of interest. Would build the weld up if necessary.
I called in to Machine Mart and saw a Clarke 160EN. A search of this group has been reasonably favourable to Clarke, I have a Clarke jack and axle stands and they do what they are supposed to.
Quoted Max Amperage is 150. Duty Amperage at 60% Duty cycle 75.
I take that to mean 75 Amps for 6 minutes in 10. How long at 150Amps I wonder anyone any idea?
I am looking for something for general home use. I would like to be able to weld one or two bits of 5mm stainless (when I have gained some competence). Would this be asking too much of this machine?
I would also like to be able to weld aluminium, again not much.
As with both the above if I had a lot to do I could I suppose always tack and take to a professional to weld.
Other things are just genral bits of repair work on car etc.
Would this be a good choice? I friend of mine recommended a Sealey 180 or something like.
There is also a Mig195 available, anyone know what they are like please?
(Subsequently found some references in this group to them being Silverline and it is pre owned (but not used) so don't think I will be interested).
