I have been doing lots of research before buying a mig welder, and to be honest the search gets more confusing!
A few weeks ago I thought an R-tech 180 or Gys smartmig 160 was the way to go, but after more thought and looking around I noticed the Oxford and Tec Arc's will go down to 20amp, which as I'm only aiming to weld car bodywork, seems the way to go.
I have now come across the Portamigs, which seem to go down to 15 amps.......even better. But they all seem to be made by the same guy at Technical Arc?
Now there are various models available. 160 for the Tec Arc and Portamig, Oxford seems to start at 180, the 160's only have 6 voltage settings, 12 on the 180's.
There also seems to be some big price differences, depending where you buy from.
Any advice anyone can give me? Is there any differences between the different makes, is it worth getting the 180 over the 160.
