Hi all ...looking for some help with a wire feeding fault/issue, on an old
Clarke 100E Mk 2.
The welder is approx 22 years old.....but is in,a fair condition.I've never been able to use it successfully, due to the wire feed problems....I must be an eternal optimist !!
Firstly, when I try to feed the wire through to the gun, all seems to go well, until, it gets to the gun itself.
The wire that I have been trying to use has been 0.6 mm. I have stripped the gun down, for inspection, and it seems to have issues, going through the gas valve, and into the swan neck......I've pulled the small spring out of the swan neck, but can't see any issues with it, and have fed wire through it ok.
But when I feed it through from the wire feed motor...all goes well, then it seems to stick !! .....if I put on more tension, the wire tends to "bird best".
The welder has had a new liner ( Teflon ? ) fitted, but not much difference noted...could it be that I should be using 0.8 mm wire....or could it be the short section in the swan neck at fault....really struggling with making, any sense or logic of this....any suggestions, but don't want to spend much on it, as think, that it's long overdue for replacing !!
