can somebody show me what fan to buy to upgrade this and also how to wire it up many thanks scott also what regulator would i need to use a pub type bottle cheers scott
I did this with my pro 90 some years ago with a standard cabinet cooling fan around 4" square, 2.5" deep. I bolted the fan on the back over the top of the grill placed to suck hot air out and drilled a hole in the back to take a fuse holder (the type where the fuse screws in without having to open the case).
Then I wired directly from the mains input cable (before the front panel on/off switch) through the fuse and onto the fan.
This way I could do some welding, switch off on the front and the welder stopped but the fan kept going protected by it's own 1 amp fuse.
Before the fan the set shut down frequently but after fitting it I never lost a minutes welding.
sorry I can't help there. It was about twenty years ago!
But it's not hard to set it up, just be aware of internal parts before drilling holes, no sharp edges where wires can rub. Make good 'mechanical' connections (ie, wires well wrapped/twisted), then soldered with a hot soldering iron and insulated with tape or cut-off plastic sheath. Cable-tie wires back, etc.
And obvious things such as never take the lid off a welder unless the mains plug is sitting on the floor next to you. Make sure you use a suitable fuse, around 1 amp should do. Make sure it's a mains powered fan and not 12 volts. Think about what you're doing /before/ you do it, etc.
