Hi there,
I have got hold of a Clarke 205te machine and an Co2/Argon mix bottle. I have no experience in Mig welding but have taught myself how to stick weld recently.
I am currently trying to make a car jig out of steel I beams that are around 7mm thick and then move onto car panels so a mixture of different thicknesses required to weld.
I can weld the beams with the arc welder but I need to get used to the Mig welder before attempting any weld on my dream mustang project.
I have watched lots of youtube videos etc but in most videos they have a helpful chart that is printed on their mig welders of the settings to use on certain metal thicknesses which proves to be a good starting point. I dont have that on mine and is taking a while trying to tune in the power and wire speed settings, especially when the thickness of the metals im welding keeps changing.
Does anyone know if there was a chart for this welder originally, if so where could i obtain one. If not can anyone help with where the settings should be (starting point) for different metal thicknesses?
I will be welding 1mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 7mm steel.
Any help appreciated,
Martin
