I used a nema 10-50r receptacle
AC remember it switcheswork is positive on Tig, torch is negative - otherwise you'd burn up the tungsten in short order.

a lot of these older machines have hf spark gap electrodes inside you have to clean em up and gap them to the recommended gap ocasionalyI suppose it will just be a case of messing around with that to see what works best?

I'm just flabbergasted that machine draws so many amps, thre are old 3ph welding machines lying around here that don't draw as much despite being 250A machines, easily run on a normal everyday 16A 3ph outlet.
