To you all thinking of getting, or have got a cut 50 series plasma cutter (cut 40/50/60). Can I suggest a simple mod you might like to consider at some point. Change the torch from the PT31 series, get something better.
OK so I play with CNC but must be a similar thing, I got a SG-55 torch, meant for 50 to 60 Amps, but I found 40 Amp tips available for it.
If you remember a picture I posted in a Humbug thread
Looking at the top of the letters you will notice that i was missing parts of the letters especially 's', 't'
and some of the 'a'.
Well I have just done it again with a different nozzle and I found I got way better results, not loosing the tops of parts of the letters etc.
The picture here is only wire brushed and not cleaned to the extent of the above picture but it is better quality in my mind.
The tops of the letters are around 1.5 to 2mm wide. Same pressure, but I think the 0.9 mm nozzle size I used allowed me to go slightly lower on current.
I use a straight torch but you can get a normal handled one just as easy. I put it down to better consumables as I found the PT-31 series so hit and miss from different suppliers, here is hoping that these will be better.
