I can't recommend any specific makes but I've got a budget one that has always done everything I've asked of it. Useful to have around !
For anyone into woodworking or kitchen fitting I'd say it's high on my list of "must have" tools.
Look for one with variable speed. I find it a handy on mine, not sure if it's a standard feature or not.
I got one from Rutland a while back on their daily deals page - don’t think I’d pay full price but good value when they come up as a deal, though I think they are just a rebranded generic cheap make.
I had an Axminster branded one a few years back that didn't last very long with just DIY type use. I replaced it with a screwfix version (Eurauber or whatever they're called) and its been fine for everything I've asked of it.
Only thing with cheaper ones is sometimes the blade is bit too wide, causing the biscuit to have a sloppy fit, which defeats the object. Also I only but TREND biscuits now, as they can be variable.
Had a Bosch Jointer which was good, but it fell off a scaffold tower, so bought an Erbauer one from Screwfix, and dare I say, IMO its actually better !
As said the cheap ones are fine. I've had several over the years, the current fave is a cordless Makita, it's not quite got the power of a corded but the lack of cable snags make up for that.
I unburied my old Frued 240V one recently, I'm not sure what to do with it.
