OK had a recent rant about galvanising but the railings I have outside now are totally pants. Not a single bit of reasonable care was taken in the dipping or transport and It appears I am far from alone.
So looking at dropping the process on the majority of my work
Had a chat with the paint people who have suggested I switch to a single pack multi vinyl developed for use as is or I can add some "activator" and turn it into two pack.
Rep says direct to metal with our Galv should be OK but a little more limited on colours
Looked at various primers like zinc rich but warned that adhesion isn't good enough for purpose.
Told that t wash would be a waste as its already acid etch paint
Thoughts anyone?
Giving up on Galv more cost and troubles than it's worth. I know it need not be but if you see the lack of quality and abismal service I am getting you would understand.
Think I need to look at my use of box section or perhaps inject the inside with something? Maybe just use as posts and send to Galv through another and except the sanding up and lost by transport or to the bottom of the tank now and again.?
