Hi Guys- new to this. I'm out to get my first MIG and I'm confused about the cylinder side of it. All come equipped for one of three operations- gasless, (gas + disposable) or (gas + reusable bottles). There is often a "kit" on offer to convert from gasless to gas (fair enough) or between bottle types. However not all welders offer the latter. My question is that the gas supply is presumably independent of the welder- its down to the cylinder plus regulator (?) - and if that's so then any welder should be usable with any type of cylinder- whether a kit is listed by the manufacturer or not? Presumably you can just buy the regulator, make sure you can stand the relevant cylinder safely and off you go? Is that so? I ask because I was thinking of the Clarke 160TM for car restoration work. This comes for use with refillables - but these are a step to far for a newbie with unclear usage at present- So can I use disposables with this one?
Cheers Mike
