I always used to use 3.2mm tungstens for 4mm and up Alu but some time back I went to 2.4 for some reason. Can't recall why but anyway tonight I decided to do a test.
4mm 5083 Alu with 5356 rod.
Current 150Amps
Frequ 70Hz
Cleaning 20%
Only change was tungsten dia.
Both welds seemed fine although I must admit I felt more comfortable with the 3.2 Tungsten, just felt better for some reason.
Cut and etched and here is the result.
Will see if I can do a few more and see if things replicate or if I just got lucky
