I got a load of old bogmats for the winter fuel in the JB homestead but the re-sharpening of the chainsaw chain has, of late, become a real bore. The clay and crud embedded in the hardwood quickly takes its toll on a chain and I've tried other means of cutting but a sharp chain is by far the fastest cut barring tractor power circular saws etc.
Anyhoo, my newest file was smoothed off and the house was getting cold so-I had a dig around in the TCT burr box and found a parallel burr of almost identical diameter to the file, stuck it in the cordless and I was amazed how controllable it was and how cleanly ground the sharpened cutter edge was. Needless to say the job was done in about 25 seconds and the chain has rarely been sharper. Obviously it would be easily possible to remove too much tooth but a wee touch with the burr is the only way forward for me from now on.
Just thought I'd share that with you, although it's rare an idea is truely original?
