I am not sure if that would work as the EWM is controlling both motors, as far as I am aware, and monitoring the currents of both so that it can feed both the wire feed motor and the pull motor and turn them at the correct speeds.
If I did it the way I think you are saying then basically I would be taking the EWM out of push/pull mode and I am not sure if that would screw up the pulse welding capabilities or not.
One thing I certainly do not want to do is damage the EWM, don't give a toss if I damage the push/pull torch as it was cheap enough for me take a risk on it being suitable which it turns out it wasn't
