Hi guys first post with a strange occurrence with my cea digitech 400 welder. I'm an old school sheet metal fabricator working with mild steel from 1.6mm to 10mm mild steel and s/steel. Basically I've been brought up with transformer based mig plants. We've had the above cea for ages but just can't get to grips with one simple fact that it just doesn't tack up right or generally feel right. It doesn't seem to "switch" off like an old mig set it seems to flare up after you left go of the trigger and leave a queer sooty tack and sometimes melt and ruin the tip and and. To me it feels like it's keeping power to the wire after you have let go of the trigger not a quick off on like me old sets. I have tried altering burn back inductance etc and putting the unit into either manual mig mode and synergic but it just always does the same. Welding is great in synergic, pulse etc but tacking jobs up just doesn't cut it. Is this a trait of inverter style plants? Am I using the wrong gas at 13% co2. The unit has been checked over and all comes up good. I'm just at a loss as otherwise it's a good unit but due to us being v busy all the time I never have the time to fully get to the bottom of it. All programmed fine fir given wire gas.
