Cast Iron Welding

Hi All

I hope this is the right place to post this.

I have a cast iron pulley from a baler which had cracked towards the centre, this crack was repaired but but when I went to refit it I noticed a crack along the edge of the weld.
Can anyone suggest the best course of action or maybe recommend someone in the Exeter area who is experienced with welding cast iron.

I've always had the privilege of expensive consumables to hand in which if your going to produce a sound weld repair to cast iron you'll need them. My successes with such repairs were with nickel/iron fillers. If you don't want to shell out that sort of cash on welding filler you could braze it.

Thanks for the reply. The previous repair was brazed, my welding skills only just about extend to MIG on mild steel so I guess the question is, can anyone recommend anyone in the Exeter area who could perform a good quality repair.

It's a pulley yes. And it's a crack repair yes. Can you post it. Pm me a pic and I'll give you a price.

Ok, sounds good, I'll take a couple of pictures in the morning and send them over to you, and check the weight so I can check the carriage costs.
